Packing a powerful supercharged 6.2l V8 engine delivering 647 horsepower and 604 lb⋅ft (819 N⋅m) of torque, the Corvette C6 ZR1 can tear it up on both the street & the track. During the development stages of the
Corvette C6 ZR1, the vehicle was registered within the company’s ranks with an internal code name
Blue Devil. The monicker was made by the then CEO Rick Wagoner, as that was the nickname of his alma mater, Duke University. And like the Blue Devils of North Carolina, the
ZR1 can tear it up & give its opponents a run for their money when it was revealed in 2009. It was then that the Corvette ZR1's reveal stunned the world, as the American car maker revealed an American muscle car that could tear it up on the street, but also, give the business on the drag strip, and push the limits of what’s possible on the racetrack.
The C6 ZR1 features a supercharged 6.2 Liter LS9 V8 engine delivering 647 horsepower and 604 lb⋅ft (819 N⋅m) of torque. In turn, it can sprint from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in 3.4 seconds and do a 1/4 of a mile in just 11.4 seconds at 129.3 miles per hour. Finally, the Corvette ZR1 will achieve a top speed of 205mph (330km/h).
When General Motors development engineer Jim Mero drove a stock ZR1 around the Nürburgring, the ZR1 achieved a track time of
7:26.4. During that time, that was significantly faster than the 7:29 lap set by the
Nissan GT-R – one of the fastest road-legal cars during that time. Furthermore, the vehicle was also touted as one of the best handling supercars out there. In turn, that made the ZR1 one of the most coveted vehicles out there.
This particular matte black Corvette C6 ZR1 is a perfect showcase of what American design & engineering can achieve. The vehicle features a set of
Forgestar CF5 five-spoke deep concave wheels. Add a set of sticky high-performance tires to this
Corvette and you're ready to go on both the street & the the strip.
