When released, the
KIA Stinger took the car world by storm. The vehicle can trace its roots from the GT Concept, revealed by the carmaker at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show and the Kia GT4 Stinger from the 2014 North American International Auto Show. It was designed by Peter Schreyer, most known for his work on the
Audi TT and Gregory Guillaume - KIA's chief designer. The work was completed (pretty interestingly) at the KIA's European studio in Frankfurt. The engineering on the car comes courtesy of former BMW M Vice President of Engineering Albert Biermann. In turn, the KIA Stinger is one hell of a car, both looks and performance-wise. Naturally, the car can always use an aftermarket twist.
But more about that later. In the powertrain department, the Stinger utilizes a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive platform from the Hyundai Genesis, albeit a little shortened to fit the Grand Tourer. The vehicle comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 252 horsepower and a 3.5 liter twin-turbo V6 engine, delivering 370 horsepower and 376 lb-ft (510 Nm) of torque in the AWD (All-Wheel-Drive) variant. The carmaker claims that the Stinger accelerates from 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.7, 6, and 4.9 seconds respectively. Schreyer reportedly drove a pre-production Stinger GT at a top speed of 269 km/h (167 mph) on the Autobahn.
For the most part, the KIA Stinger is a gorgeous Grand Tourer, with a capable engine and impressive performance. In turn, that makes it a perfect candidate to receive a set of aftermarket upgrades. In this case, this Stinger got a set of
Forgestar M14 modular forged wheels. These deep-dish wheels are
sized 18x9 in the front and 18x10.5 in the rear, finished in a beautiful
Bronze Burst finish. In turn, this makes the Stinger look fresh, giving it a perfect visual boost late in its lifespan. This owner decided to go with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season tires, giving his KIA Stinger plenty of grip during all weather seasons.
